Strengthening School Libraries Through Family and Community Involvement
What does it look like when a school library becomes the heartbeat of an entire community? In this session, Lizzy Dixon shares how she has transformed her school library into a dynamic hub for families, students, and the wider community. From playgroup programs and kindergarten partnerships to family book clubs and pre-prep transition initiatives, Lizzy will explore the practical strategies she has used to build belonging, strengthen school readiness, and embed the library as an indispensable part of school life. Whether you're looking to deepen community connections or expand the reach of your library program, this session offers inspiration and actionable ideas you can take back to your own context.
Building Your School's Literacy Ecosystem
An independent literacy consultant at ProReading Solutions, Gabrielle specialises in whole-school approaches to reading culture and literacy development. Her work focuses on designing literacy ecosystems: frameworks where leadership, curriculum, library, and student identity align to support deep, sustained reading and thinking.
Drawing on her work with The Reading Revolution and the long-running Just Read initiative, Gabrielle helps schools move beyond fragmented literacy efforts toward coherent, embedded practice.
